I did a post sometime ago on THE GRUMBLER. Well, let's just say that this is somehow related to it. I had been enduring this for a while now and just have to rant about it because I'm tired. Who knows, I might feel a bit better after this post. I don't have a problem with people playing the songs that they like in the office, but I do have a problem when the songs are on repeat and they just drain the energy out of me.The grumbler is the "SPIRO" person in the office, our boss is the "ROMANTIC LOVER" and the customer service lady is the "FUNKY CHRISTIAN".
If the songs are played quietly and at different times, it might not have bothered me so much. The list below is just a few of the songs I hear on repeat and on a daily basis.

Let me paint a scenario for you. The grumbler gets to work and immediately puts on her system and starts to play her songs with the volume quite high. She and some other colleagues are also singing along.
Me: Madam, reduce the volume of your songs
She: But it's not high na. I need to saturate myself with this songs so I don't fall prey to all this fraudsters.
Me: Na you know, abeg this songs are giving me headache and weighing me down.
I am a christian too and love to worship God, but biko, i don't appreciate hearing such songs over and over again in the office. As if that is not enough, in the middle of the day, when our boss gets into his elements, he puts his own romantic songs and on an even higher volume than the grumbler's own. Whenever he does this, the grumbler would mutter to herself saying stuff like why would he play his music so loud. If he leaves his seat, she would go and reduce his own volume. *smh @ both of them. One day, I had to jokingly say to my boss: Na wa ooo oga, right now, I'm not sure if I'm in a night club or at work. He laughed and reduced the volume of his system a little bit. At about 3:30pm, when we are getting ready to close to customers, the C.S.O slots her own contemporary christian songs and also starts to cruise. I think for her, it's almost like: Oh yeah... I finally get some rest from the customers. :-D.
So you can just imagine hearing this "spiro" songs and "romantic songs" playing side by side throughout the day and competing for attention in your ears. It's really annoying. If they vex me too much, I will just complete the variety of songs clashing in the office with my collection of Flavour N'Abania, WhizKid and other naija musicians. Hmmmm, sounds like a good idea. :-D
I read 'The Grumbler'and seeing her list of songs suddenly made me picture virgin hair covered with a head scarf :D
ReplyDeleteYou oga na lover boy, sha :)
LOL. You are just a clown. No mind my oga jare.
Deleteimao! I can't stop laughing, reminds me of someone living downstairs that keeps playing Alicia Keys over and over again. some people are just nuts!!! I think he might get the feeling that you love the song.
ReplyDeleteMy dear, some people are real nutcases walahi. As for my oga, his songs are suitable for night clubs and homes, not the office. I don't hate the songs, but hearing them over and over again just makes me want to tear my hair out. :-)
DeleteLMAO!! I can just imagine the scene : You are the pillar that holds my life ( spiro’s music), next line ( I wanna make love in this club (boss’s music) and then ‘ my brother can’t you see, I’ve got the victory, stomp! (funky Christian’s music).. Pele oh, its enough to give one a headache
ReplyDeleteMy dear, follow me laugh oo. It's just a crazy scene that plays out everyday.
DeleteI'm feeling the grumbler's playlist oo. pele. me i cant stand music on autorepeat. It drains me. Are they even allowed to play loud music during work hours? What happened to earphones?
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could give them a taste of their medicine and play Sonibobo.
Ndoooo
They are not allowed to play music loudly, but somehow, everyone just does whatever they like. I will soon introduce my own mix of songs too. :-p
Deletehahahaha. Pele but why these people they do you like this na? I think you need me in your office tho. My own taste is eclectic. I listen to all sorts too but i use earphones so i don't disturb anyone with my crazy collection. I'm currently doing "chop your money" a la Mercy on 9ja idols. In a totally unrelated matter, that Mercy has to win o.
ReplyDeleteLmao@Olaedo.
P.S: i think your boss needs to get *cough* laid
True true, the girl gats to win... she too much.
DeleteTanx love. I haven't been watching 9ja Idols, so can't say much about Mercy. LOL, You are not serious oo Toin, my boss is married, so he can get some everyday if he wants to.
DeleteLOL, Can imagine hearing same songs over and over again, you need to introduce your own songs too for a good measure. Pele, there are different characters in this world :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks dear, seriously thinking of adding my own songs to the mix. But that might just make the headache worse.
Deletei think you should start playing either south african songs or Wizkid....
ReplyDeleteLast last the bank will make a rule say make everybody dey wear earphone!!! People sef.
You make me wanna blog about the people i live with
Abeg blog about the people you live with. You bet I would enjoy reading that post. You are actually not allowed to wear earphones in the office cos you are supposed to be attentive to listen and attend to the customers. No mind my colleagues jor. Dem dey try me. :-)
DeleteLOL, I have to agree with Ginger, are they allowed to play music during working hours? and in a banking hall (CSO)? Me I can't imagine oh, even if your office is in the vault. If I'm in that office, I'll just add to the play list, maybe some messages - Pst Chris, Bishop Oyedepo, and throw in some Kenneth Copeland or Hagin.
ReplyDeleteLOL
Hahahahahaha @ even if our office is inside the vault. You are allowed to play music, but on a low to moderate volume. I can just imagine listening to messages loudly in the office. LOL.
Deletelmao. mhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, r dey allowed to play music that loud in the bank???? i'm sure if u ask ur oga well, he will tell u he plays his music to drown that of Spiro............. hahahahahahahahahahhaha. pele, perhaps u shld plug ya ears wif an earphone
ReplyDeleteYeah, i agree with you on my boss playing his own loudly to drown Spiro's own. IMO, they just behave like kids.
Deletei think you should start playing Fela, am sure that will drive them crazy.lol
ReplyDeletesorry en.
@olaedo, very funny
LOL, nooooo, Playing Fela will be too much abeg. :-D
DeleteEeya, pele. I am sure you must be really tired of hearing it. I think you guys need to redefine your office policies. Playing music in the office doesn't sound right sha
ReplyDeleteTo say I'm tired of hearing the songs will be an understatement. Yeah, we really need to redefine our office policies and put better controls in place. Thanks dear.
DeleteI think everybody should just wear earphones or headphones :)
ReplyDeleteLOL, it's not allowed ooo. If not, I would have bought some seriously padded earphones to block every song. :-)
Deletelol@ the title. But seriously sha, I just started singing the grumbler's "you are the pillar that holds my life" I love that song!
ReplyDeleteif they sabi DJ work, make them go try am for the right place abeg and stop bombarding you with a mixer of their songs jare.
On an ordinary day, I like the song "You are the pillar that holds my life", but my dear, by the time you hear it all through the day, it really starts to get on your nerves. Correct suggestion, make dem leave banking go do DJ work jare.
DeleteGuess I woulda fallen into one of the groups above as I luuurrrrrvvvvveeeee listening to music. However, different sounds from different areas in the same space, becomes noise. My 1st suggestion would be to get ear-phones, and listen to your kind of music, but not everyone likes that. I'm not an ear-phone person myself.
ReplyDeleteSo, play your own selection of music, as loud as you can in that environment, and let chaos reign....someone will back down eventually!
DrLily
Sweetie, no be small noise. But if i play my own songs join, na serious chaos oooo.
Deletehttp://dblogedition.blogspot.com/2011/11/noisy-world.html
ReplyDeleteWill check it out. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteToo many songs from different corners 'jamming' one another isn't my idea of a good time with songs either,so i feel your pain. The names you gave them are quite hilarious though.LOL
ReplyDeleteIt's a very annoying situation. Thanks dear.
DeleteYou wont kee me ooo!
ReplyDeletelolz...
LOL. Glad you found it funny.
DeleteLOL...why do they have to play it at the same time? I think that's the wahala.
ReplyDeleteNo mind all of them.
DeleteWhy play bloody music at all? It's a frickin' workplace. BE PROFESSIONAL (at least until it's work-end!)
ReplyDeleteARGH! I am so vexed! In fact...hold on...there we go. Did you hear that? I have just torn my pants I am so vexed!
LOL. You are not serious ooo madam.
DeleteThat your boss is just a case. I think his playlist is a cry for help. Haha.
ReplyDeleteI think I feel you jare, it's not just about the type of music, it's about the distractions that come from hearing all that all day long. Pele. God is your muscle : D
I'm really holding on to God so as not to lose it one day. Thanks dear.
DeleteBut what happened to earphones? You:re trying sha... i can almost guess they do not update the collection
ReplyDeleteUpdate ke, that is not in their plan. It's the same blehh music all day long.
DeleteLOOLL!! I have people like that around me too. One plays christian songs, the other plays non-christian songs! Reminds me of nysc camp where mami market was on my right and church was on my left, both with blaring speakers. I had to decide daily which side to follow... Not a very easy task
ReplyDeleteMy dear, you understand jare, It's not an easy task at all.
DeleteAll I can say is "Wahala"! :-)
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha. You can say that again. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteHw are U̶̲̥̅̊ dear?
ReplyDelete({}) º°˚˚˚°ºbig hugº°˚˚˚°º({})
Thanks for checking on me hun. I'm doing well. Hugging you right back.
Deleteyou're lucky oh...they play music at your job? wow.
ReplyDeleteI wish it wasn't allowed or at least there should be a policy on using earphones instead of just disturbing everyone.
DeleteThe grumbler seriously thinks the songs will shield her from frausters? That is funny. I agree. One day, just one day, bring some party music and blast it too. Lets see how they like that.
ReplyDeleteWell, to each, his own belief. Wish I could do the party music thingy, but I've moved on.
DeleteThanks for ones marvelous posting! I seriously enjoyed reading it, you may be a great author.
ReplyDeleteI will always bookmark your blog and will eventually
come back sometime soon. I want to encourage continue your great job, have a nice weekend!
